Rotobrush Register & Grille Cleaning: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Rotobrush-compatible register and grille cleaning heads for most Air-Sweep and B-line models, and the typical installed job in Fort Worth runs $145 – $275 depending on which series you own and whether the air-wash ring needs replacing at the same time. You’ll usually notice it’s failed when the register head starts leaving a gray haze around ceiling vents instead of pulling clean lines, or when the nylon bristles look flattened like a worn toothbrush and grilles come out streaky no matter how many passes you make. Most Fort Worth owners catch it mid-job when the head stops seating flush against the vent face and air starts leaking around the collar instead of pulling through it.

Which Rotobrush Models This Applies To

The register and grille cleaning head on a Rotobrush system isn’t one universal part. It’s matched to the brush diameter and the number of air-wash ports on your machine. If you’re running an Air-Sweep 2000 or 2500 series, you’re looking at a 6-inch head with a single-port wash ring. The newer B-Line (B1, B2, and BD models) take a 7-inch head and the wash ports are offset 15 degrees from the older pattern, so the old head physically will not seat on the new bayonet mount. The easiest way to confirm what you have: look at the data plate on the vacuum body, right below the hose inlet. The model code starts with either “AS” or “BL.” Snap a photo of that plate before you call us and we’ll have the right head loaded on the truck before we arrive.

On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: Rotobrush’s own replacement heads are well made, but the bristle density is tuned for moderate humidity. Fort Worth’s dry-brittle air shortens bristle life noticeably, so we stock a Texas-spec aftermarket head with higher nylon density (think 40% more bristles per square inch) that holds its shape better across a Fort Worth summer. It’s about $30 less than OEM and in our experience lasts one to two seasons longer here. We’ll install whichever you prefer and show you both before we start.

Signs Your Rotobrush Register & Grille Cleaning Is Failing

  • Gray halo around the register edges. The air-wash ring has worn oval, so instead of blowing debris inward toward the vacuum, it’s pushing a fine dust cloud outward onto your ceiling. That ring is usually the first part to go on Fort Worth heat pumps with heavy runtime.
  • Head won’t seat flush against the vent face. The bayonet mount tabs have rounded off from repeated snap-on pressure. You’ll feel a loose wiggle and hear air whistle around the collar. Continuing to run it this way scuffs vent frames.
  • Bristles look flattened and won’t spring back. Nylon loses memory after a few hundred vent contacts. When the bristles lay down flat, the head polishes rather than scrubs, and grilles come out with visible dust lines in the louver gaps.
  • Louvers come out streaky even on the second pass. This is usually a cracked bristle hub rather than the bristles themselves. A hairline crack holds the head slightly off-center, so contact pressure is uneven and the streak pattern repeats in exactly the same place every pass.
  • Vacuum sounds like it’s working harder than it should. A clogged air-wash port forces the vacuum to pull through a restricted opening, which you’ll hear as a higher-pitched moan from the hose. Left unchecked, a blocked port will overheat the wash-ring seal and warp the mount.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a Fort Worth owner, here’s the honest math on what replacing a Rotobrush register and grille cleaning head costs with us:

  • Air-Sweep 2000/2500 head (OEM): $95 – $125 installed, including the new air-wash ring.
  • Air-Sweep 2000/2500 head (Texas-spec aftermarket): $70 – $90 installed.
  • B-Line B1/B2/BD head (OEM): $175 – $220 installed, including bayonet mount replacement if tabs are rounded.
  • B-Line head (Texas-spec aftermarket): $140 – $180 installed.
  • Air-wash ring only (any series): $35 – $50 installed while we’re already on site for another service.

The spread comes down to which series you own and whether the mount needs replacing at the same time. We’ll give you a written price before we touch a single component, and that price does not change at the door. Every replacement carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the head fails or doesn’t seat correctly within a year, we come back and make it right at no charge. For parts we write on, the repair has a written guarantee plus a free second visit if something goes wrong.

DIY or Call Us?

You can absolutely check a few things yourself before you pick up the phone. Inspect the air-wash ports for packed dust, look at the bristles under good light to see if they’re flattened or twisted, and wiggle the head on its mount to feel for seat play. If the ports are dirty, compressed air will clear them. If the bristles are toast or the mount tabs are rounded, that’s the limit of what we’d suggest doing at home. The bayonet mount on B-Line models sits under spring tension, and prying it off with a screwdriver is a good way to launch a retaining clip across your living room or crack the vacuum body. We’ve seen both. The swap itself usually takes 30 – 45 minutes on site, and half of that is verifying the head seats correctly and pulls evenly across a test vent before we pack up. Call (817) 730-6759 and we’ll bring the right part, plus a spare ring, and have you back to cleaning before your next service window.
